Committee Roles
C.O.A.L.S. Council has five committees that members serve on during the year. Each committee is responsible for various council operations, events and marketing exposure in the College of Ag & Life Sciences and across the university.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee works year-round to raise funds that will benefit C.O.A.L.S. Council and the college as a whole. Our largest source of income is derived from hosting the AGLS Career Fair. The Career Fair has been steadily growing through the years and the interest shown by companies, as well as students, is phenomenal. The funds raised are utilized in numerous ways. Our committee oversees the process of awarding grants to student organizations each semester as well as awarding a yearly scholarship.
Leadership Committee
Texas A&M has a deep history in Agriculture and creating leaders. As the Leadership Committee for the C.O.A.L.S. Council, we are tasked with maintaining and advancing this tradition. We do this by promoting communication in the Council with the administration and other student organizations. Our committee also serves the students of our college by developing their professionalism and leadership skills. We plan the bi-monthly Council meetings and monthly meetings with the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. We oversee events regarding interaction with faculty while developing leadership training for students.
Service Committee
The Service Committee seeks to unify the college through service events catered towards both Texas A&M students, as well as the Bryan/College Station community. In the past, this had been accomplished through events including making blankets for Project Linus, an Angel Tree Gift Exchange, filling Easter Eggs, and many more. In the coming year we seek to continue serving the community monthly, as well as partnering with a large philanthropy. It is the desire of this committee to use the gifts we have been blessed with to give back to others, leaving a lasting impact on the surrounding community.
Public Relations Committee
The Public Relations Committee serves to publicize activities within the college through social media outlets and other advertisement materials. We work to unify the different organizations and students within Texas A&M's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. We are the top recruiting body for council. The Public Relations Committee also sells college merchandise throughout the year, maintains the C.O.A.L.S. Council website, and strives to serve as the voice of council to others.
Programs Committee
The Programs Committee is responsible for planning monthly social events, Council Retreat and the C.O.A.L.S. Tailgate. We cater to the networking aspect this college as well as Texas A&M as a whole. Our mission is to make C.O.A.L.S. Council not only a constructive experience but an enjoyable one. We strive to boost Council moral and to help members form lasting relationships with other members and college faculty.
